30th October - Today's News: Why Climate Change Means More Raw Sewage

Why do UK water companies pump sewage into the sea?   There are a number of reasons, but one of them is simply the increase of "extreme" rainfall events hitting the British Isles.  Thanks to climate change.   Of course, inadequate Victorian drains don't help!  Even here, in one of the driest parts of the country, this morning, in the space of 3 hours, we had 14mm of rain - roughly equivalent to a week's worth.  And it was just a "normal" damp morning ....  we get rain less, but when it rains, we get more fall.   In the Lake District we've seen sewage 'erupts' into the streets amid 'horrendous' floods  whilst drone footage shows extent of Dumfries flooding Meanwhile, in Wales, landslide wrecks Nefyn road after heavy rain And it's not just in the UK ....
