27th May - Today's News: British and Irish Temperature Records Smashed Again

UK's hottest May day record broken for second day in a row  - 35.1c at Kew Gardens - whilst  Wales sees new hottest May day record  , the Channel Islands saw t emperature record broken for third day in a row  and  Ireland sees another temperature record for May  with 30.6c at Shannon AP on the west coast.   Scotland also had its warmest day of the year so far, but no records up there and on the west coast some places were only around 14c ...... But perhaps of even more interest is Camborne which recorded 30.1c - that's over 5c higher than its previous May record and 2c over it's June record.   And then to follow up, it had an overnight minima of 21.4c - which broke the UK record for the warmest May night.    Camborne?   Must be a big airport, surrounded by tarmac or greenhouses and in a big urban area, right?    Er, no.    Here's Camborne weather station - out in the countryside in a open fiel...

26th May - Today's News: May Temperature Records Smashed Across UK, Ireland & France

Yesterday was the h ottest May day on record in UK as temperatures pass 34C - and also the hottest bank holiday on record - whilst Wales and the Channel Islands also broke their May record and  Ireland sees new May high of 28.8C And today it's already widely 26-27c across much of southern Britain - from Cornwall to Norfolk - at 9am ......   Likely yesterday's record will fall later ...... 23rd May - Today's News: Record Heatwave Starts in England & Wales

After a fairly cool May, everything has changed and we're now at the start of with is very likely to be record breaking heatwave with highs of 33°C forecast this weekend  and already 28.4c recorded in several places as h ot weather to intensify in UK over bank holiday weekend .   Cool, wet and windy in the Highlands though ....
