14th August - Today's News: Wildfires Destroy Homes on UK's Hottest Day of Year

UK sees hottest day of the year as 38.1C recorded in Kew Gardens - it's unlikely that figure will be broken now.  But further heatwaves in September are not out of the question.

Dozens of wildfires have been reported.

Locally, Pershore (Throckmorton) recorded 38.03c,  Pershore College 37.98c and Astwood Bank 37.92c.  This is, I believe, the first time anywhere in this part of the country has recorded 100f and only the second time for a CET station (Rothamsted hit 38.5c on 19th July 2022)

And on Wednesday evening, a once-in-a-generation solar eclipse wows millions in UK and Europe - I watched it in the river, but without a filter it was too bright to photograph.   First time I have seen a significant eclipse in clear skies.

12th March - Today's News: Channel Snowstorm Causes Chaos

With a max of +1.7c yesterday was my coldest March day on record, whilst a flurry produced a slight dusting here this morning .....  Somewhat colder and snowier down towards the Channel though as hundreds of drivers left stranded overnight as storm causes traffic chaos across the South-east .   In the Channel Islands, Jersey Airport suspends flights for second day   whilst Guernsey snow hits schools, roads, buses and airport .  There's been some impressive drifting too. Roads, flights and trains hit by snow in France as other parts of Europe gripped by winter weather outbreak as well. Meanwhile, snow and ice cause travel chaos in Scotland   but up in Sutherland and the Hebrides they could do with snow as Highland crews called on to tackle wildfires - it's that season again.
