Apparently it's been the driest start to year in England since 1976 - though locally, whilst July has been quite dry (about 30% of ave so far), total rainfall for the year is not much below normal and we've certainly had much drier years recently.   Meanwhile, UK cities warned of wildfire risk as extremely hot, dry, weather becomes more frequent.
