Greenland's shrunken ice sheet: we've been here before - perhaps as recently as 3,000 years ago.   Although the Holocene Climatic Optimum ended ~5ka, the oceans continued to warm for a time even as the stmosphere cooled, and the suggestion is that the Greenland ice cap is affected more by ocean than air temperature.
