28th July - Today's News: Italy Hit by Severe Weather & Wildfires

First an apocalyptic hailstorm batters northern Italy and then dozens rescued after towns around popular tourist spot Lake Como hit by landslides and heavy rain as Italy becomes the latest European country to be hit by severe storms this summer.  

Meanwhile, down in the Med,  ‘a disaster without precedent’: Sardinia wildfires ravage west of Italian island

And in Greece: Forest fire rips through area near Athens

Evesham finally had it's first rain in 15 days yesterday, much welcome by the parched ground!   But elsewhere there's been too much - again - with flood patrols in force as heavy rain continues across Scotland..  While in the south, a Portsmouth road 'damaged by lightning strike'.  And more heavy showers forecast for much of the country.
