Hurricane Otis makes landfall near Acapulco as Category 5 storm, threatening ‘nightmare scenario’ for southern Mexico

Today in Britain it's the turn of Hampshire and Isle of Wight: Roads flooded in amber rain warning.   Meanwhile Met Office to review warnings after East of England floods - East Anglia was only under a yellow warning (and Worcestershire was under no warning at all).  

Cairngorms turned into winter wonderland as snow falls across the mountains

Declining Bering Sea ice linked to increasing wildfire hazard in northeast China

UN report warns of catastrophic risks to Earth systems

And a warning (unlikely to be unheeded) that a grand plan to drought-proof India could reduce rainfall
