11th January - Today's News: UK's Coldest January Night Since 2010

Not quite an ice day in my garden yesterday, with the temperature very briefly rising to +0.3c - remarkable though given there was neither snow nor fog.   Today we do have freezing fog though, after an overnight minima of -7.3c (not in itself that unusual)  so we could beat that.    In Scotland though the t emperature drops to -18.7C in Highland village - with some unofficial sites getting down to around -20c.   The lowest January temperature since 2010. 2024 UK's fourth warmest year on record - interestingly, it was also my 4th warmest - after, 2023, 2022 and, the warmest in my records, 2021.   Seems to me it's getting steadily colder!    More seriously, 2024 was also a very dull year and also my wettest on record.
