13th June - Today's News: Flash Floods as Britain Hit by Thunderstorms
For the second day running, storms bring flash flooding and travel disruption - we missed out yesterday, but Sunday evening saw nearly an inch of rain and my (briefly) road flooded for the first time since 2007 and we've now had thunder on 3 consecutive days. The London stretch of M1 motorway becomes bizarre concrete waterfall as intense flooding sees torrent of water pouring from bridge and Britain is set to sizzle in 29C heat today after flash floods, thunder and torrential downpours flooded roads and hospitals - we're hoping for it to be slightly hotter than that though to finally end the "13th June anomaly" - the only summer date on which 30c has never been recorded in the UK.
