25th November - Today's News: Major Flash Floods, Snowfall and Record Temperatures as Deadly Storm Bert Hits Britain

A rather interesting weekend in Britain, weatherwise!  Storm Bert five kills at least five and wreaks havoc with 82mph winds, snow flurries and a month's worth of rain There was an a mber snow alert in Scotland during Storm Bert on Saturday with the Queensferry Crossing ice closure a 'safety first' decision Streets flood and roads shut as Storm Bert strikes in Herefordshire Dad pulls baby son from sinking car during storm In South Wales there is a nger as Storm Bert leaves trail of destruction - whilst the storm was well forecast, I do think it warranted an amber warning - and a more widespread yellow warning - for the amount of rain on Sunday, especially when it became obvious the front was clearing much more slowly than originally expected.   Over an inch of rain in Evesham on Sunday- and over 40mm in 48 hours (2/3rd normal November rainfall) but fortunately looks like just normal winter flooding of the floodplains here. 19th November - Today's News: Central England Plastered in Snow

Some models  said it'd just be rain, with snow further north, others - notably Arperge and Harmonie - said we'd get snow right down over the south Midlands this morning.  And it's the latter that proved correct with Evesham seeing a good inch of snow cover first thing, and more falling this morning, though with roads and pavements thawing.    First time in a very long while we've seen snow on the ground here in November (first snow to fall at all since March 2023).   And it wasn't forecast this far south (because the Met Office ignored those European models .... )  Snow hits London as Arctic chill grips Britain Meanwhile, Scotland has coldest early winter night since 1998 Philippines cleans up as Super Typhoon Man-yi leaves deadly trail Hundreds of Honduran villages cut off by torrential rain after TS Sara Wild storms smash NSW, leaving Carinda without pub, pizza shop and general store whilst heavy rainfall leads to flash flooding in parts of south-east ...
