In parts of Scotland it's the ‘worst year ever’ for midges is leaving people ‘prisoners in their homes’ - though fortunately I encountered very few when in the Cairngorms last month - whilst in the US, there are so many that a massive cloud of midges shows up on weather radars in Ohio as they swarm Lake Erie
