A weak El Niño is likely this winter.   But contrary to the last rash of media lies, it doesn't necessarily mean a cold or snowy winter for Britain, and the Met Office are predicting snow only for the highest summits of the Scottish Highlands later in October.  Which is about as unusual as a cow with 4 legs. 





Oh, and contrary to the last rash of media lies, the Met Office are predicting a higher than average chance of a warm dry autumn/early winter.  And no snow or cold weather whatsoever.
